Pack 406 began a new initiative called “Service Saturdays.” One Saturday a month, each den is responsible for a service opportunity for all Cub Scouts in our park to participate in.
These are not required events but extra opportunities to give back and show that we can make a difference.

Be a part of the Pack 406 tradition of retrieving flags on our military's graves to honor their service to our country. Flag placement will take place on Saturday, May 27, and flag retrieval will take place on Saturday, June 3 at the Long Island National Cemetery (Farmingdale, NY).
Join us at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 28, to assist the Town of Huntington in handing out programs for the Memorial Day Wreath Ceremony at the Veterans Plaza. Please arrive by 9:45 a.m. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m.

Scouting For Food is our biannual food drive. Pack 406 will be at the Huntington Square Stop & Shop (3126 Jericho Turnpike, East Northport) on Saturday and Sunday, November 19-20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Collected food will go to Joseph’s Storehouse Food Pantry at Gloria Dei.
Pack 406 is collecting new toys to be delivered to hundreds of children across Long Island through the KiDS NEED MoRE Cheer Bus this holiday season across Long Island. Kids Need More is a 501(c)3 nonprofit in Copiague dedicated to enhancing the lives of kids and families coping with serious illness and cancer.

We have been invited to support the Town of Huntington's annual Arbor Day celebration by helping plant bare root saplings in our community at Koster Park. This Arbor Day, our Cub Scouts will be planting trees they will one day be able to enjoy the shade of! Friday, April 29 (Arbor Day) at 4:30 p.m.
Pack 406 will be supporting the Town of Huntington's humanitarian assistance program to provide essential supplies to people affected by the recent conflict in Ukraine. Please drop off your collected items at the Blue & Gold on March 24 from 10-11 a.m. at United Skates.

On Saturday, May 22 any time from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pack 406 Cub Scouts and their families are invited to help clean up at our charter org! Please bring gloves and a rake—and a smile! Wear your Pack T-shirt.
On Sunday, April 11 at 3 p.m., we will be cleaning up the beach at Crab Meadow. Materials (gloves and bags) will be provided by the pack. Come out and help keep trash out of our oceans and waterways!
Throughout the month, our Cub Scouts will collect books and ask their friends and neighbors for support. Collected books will be donated to The Book Fairies, who provide reading materials for people in need.

The Long Beach Soup Kitchen needs our help! They are in desperate need of toiletries to help the 80-100 families they host a week. PG4Kids is a foundation that helps local families and is asking for help collecting toiletries.
Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, the families of Pack 406 are invited to Remember, Honor and Teach by participating in wreath-laying ceremonies at Calverton National Cemetery.
Each year, Pack 406 run its annual Scouting for Food campaign to benefit Long Island food banks. This tradition began as a Good Turn for Scouts to refill our community food banks.
Hosted by BSA Troop 34 and Cub Scout Pack 406 (us!), we are holding a car wash to benefit our charter organization, Gloria Dei, as well as Joseph's Storehouse (the food pantry at Gloria Dei). Please support us!

A Great Neck teen needs our help! 16-year-old Jordan Harouche started JZIPS to make special T-shirts for himself and other pediatric cancer patients. Jordan takes kid friendly shirts and sews zippers to the shirts for medical staff to easily access the mediports.
Apex Rehab & Nursing and Hilaire Rehab and Nursing are in need of Father’s Day cards to brighten the day of residents who are still in quarantine and can’t be with their families.
Pack 406 has been providing community service for over 50 years. Past projects include Collection for the Northport VA Medical Center, Thanksgiving Food Collection, Leaf Raking at Gloria Dei, supporting the Huntington Interfaith Homeless Initiative, collection to benefit the Cohen Children's Hospital, Memorial Day Flag Placement and Retrieval, and First Responders Thank-Yous just to mention a few!
